In Memoriam: Teresa Morgan

Practice Advisor & Attorney

The Atticus team lost a valued colleague and friend on August 12, 2025, with the passing of Teresa Morgan.

Teresa earned her B.S. from the University of Central Florida in 1984, and her J.D. from the University of Florida in 1987. She began her legal career clerking for Judge Zehmer at the First District Court of Appeals in Tallahassee, FL. Later, she entered private practice in Lake City, FL, where she founded Morgan and Getzan, a law firm specializing in Elder Law and Estate Planning. Teresa was one of only a few Board-certified attorneys in Elder Law in Florida. An active member of the Florida Bar, she served as Chair of the Solo and Small Practice Executive Council.

Teresa exemplified the Atticus ideal of an attorney who truly embraced the idea of “working smarter, not harder” and made it a reality in her own life. As an advisor, she dedicated herself to helping other attorneys as they worked toward making their life goals a reality.

Teresa will be remembered not only for her professional accomplishments, but also for her generosity, wisdom, and the lasting impact she had on those fortunate enough to know her.
