Words of affirmation: This includes expressing heartfelt appreciation or gratitude through genuine words, emphasizing positive attributes, and extending thanks. This love language can include acknowledging referrals or clients for their valued business as well as your team or co-workers for a job well-done.
Acts of service: This love language encompasses actively supporting your team by offering assistance, whether it’s through regular check-ins, relieving someone of their workload, offering resources to employees in need, or enhancing amenities for your clients.
Quality time: Forge meaningful and genuine connections with your employees by delving into their aspirations, fostering open discussions, and, in an office setting, extending invitations for lunch or informal gatherings. Additionally, prioritize one-on-one interactions and extend invites to local events to further strengthen these bonds.
Receiving gifts: This encompasses tangible tokens of appreciation distributed to your team, clients, and referrals, ranging from employee benefits and gift cards to a new book or a gift for their birthday. Those who appreciate gifts, value the effort and consideration invested in each gesture.
Physical touch: In a workplace context, physical touch may manifest through gestures such as a handshake, a welcoming smile, or a simple yet warm greeting like “hello.” We can also interpret physical touch symbolically. Individuals who appreciate physical touch seek reassurance of a safe haven and a trusted confidant. They crave understanding and empathetic responses to their concerns.
