We held our second annual SUMMIT last week, and it was an incredible success. Over 200 of our attorney clients and their law firm staff members attended this unique event. They represent the best of the best in the legal industry and in their respective practice areas.

Each of the SUMMIT’s three days carried a specific theme. The theme for Day 1 was Inspiration with Keynote speakers Dr. Jeffry Life, John Morgan of Morgan and Morgan, and singer-songwriter Mandy Harvey. Their presentations inspired people in the room to commit to making changes in their lives to become healthier and have the courage to take calculated risks. Mandy’s presentation really instilled that a positive attitude and “tethering” yourself to the right people can make all the difference in your life and your practice.

Day 2 was themed for Innovation. Eleven Dominate Your Market® presenters spoke about innovations they implemented in their personal lives and law firms that brought them success and happiness. Kimberly Lee kicked off the day talking about her “Not Yet” projects, a concept learned after reading Mindset by Carol Dweck in the Dominate Your Market® program. Each quarter since reading Dweck’s book, Kimberly set a goal of learning something new. The other topics of the day included “Discipline & Mastery,” “How to prepare to remove yourself from your firm for a year-long sabbatical,” “How to serve and care for your community,” “Today’s best marketing techniques,” “Removing yourself as the hero from your firm,” and “Adding an ancillary business as another revenue source to your firm.”

There were two additional topics on “Tried and true practices for holding a Boot Camp” as well as “Developing recurring revenue for your firm through a client care program, no matter what area of practice you are in.” The day ended with recognizing several clients and speakers for various innovations, overcoming challenges and outstanding implementation of best practices.

Day 3 was about Implementation. Mark Powers and Steve Riley, along with several of our Practice Advisors, took the attendees through exercises that stirred the entrepreneurial spirit that resides in each of our clients. They worked through how to implement the ideas that struck them the most from the first two days of the event.

They also spoke about challenges the industry is facing. Mark & Steve walked the group through an exercise called The One Year Growth Advantage™ that allowed them time to focus on how to best overcome the obstacles they are faced with as they work to achieve the goals they have established. The final part of Friday was to establish each client’s top 10 goals for the first quarter of 2019 and send them to an accountability partner who will help keep them on track throughout the quarter and ultimately the year.

The energy from the group over the course of the three days was unmatched. There were vulnerabilities, insights and brilliant ideas shared. There were tears shed and many laughs throughout the course of the three days. One of our clients, Craig Goldenfarb, summed it up best at the end of the day Friday, saying that, “Atticus really feels like Atticousins.”

We are genuine, caring, focused on our clients, and looking forward to an even bigger event next year to share lessons learned, innovations, ideas and successes among this exceptional group of dedicated men and women.
